Suicide Prevention

Suicide Prevention: A Cause Too Close to Home
As members of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity at Michigan State, we firmly believe in the importance of suicide prevention. It is an issue that strikes at the core of our humanity and resonates deeply with us. We recognize that suicide is a serious matter that affects countless individuals and their families, and we firmly believe that raising awareness about this issue is crucial.
One of the reasons suicide prevention is so important to us is because we understand the profound impact it has on people's lives. Each year, millions of individuals are affected by the tragic loss of a loved one to suicide. The pain and grief caused by such an event are immeasurable, and these experiences can have a lasting impact on the friends and family left behind. By actively promoting suicide prevention, we hope to prevent further suffering and offer support to those who may be struggling.
Additionally, we recognize that mental health is a critical aspect of overall well-being. We firmly believe that everyone deserves to have access to proper mental health resources and support systems. By raising awareness about suicide prevention, we hope to break the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage individuals to seek help. No one should feel ashamed or alone when facing mental health challenges - it is essential that we create an environment where people feel safe to speak up and seek the support they need.
Furthermore, we firmly believe that the more awareness raised about suicide prevention, the better. By actively engaging in open conversations, hosting educational events, and participating in community initiatives, we hope to disseminate information about the warning signs, risk factors, and available resources. In doing so, we believe that we can reach individuals who may be struggling and provide them with the tools to seek help.
Ultimately, the gravity of suicide as a societal issue cannot be underestimated. It is our duty, as members of Beta Theta Pi and as responsible members of society, to champion the cause of suicide prevention. By promoting awareness and support systems, we hope to contribute to a world where mental health is prioritized, and individuals feel empowered to seek help. Together, let us work towards a future where suicide is a preventable tragedy, and every life is valued and protected.

Rest in Paradise

Zach Massey No. 1769

May 1st 2002 - December 13th 2022

On December 13th, we were informed about the passing of our wonderful Brother, Zach Massey, Michigan State '24, at age 20. This unexpected loss reminds us it is important to continue conversations on mental health. Through being our brother's keeper, offering mutual aid and assistance in times of need, we can all work together to support one another, just as we did through this devastating time.

May Brother Zach Massey, Roll No. 1769 on the official roll of the Gamma Psi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi, rest in peace.

Forever in _kai_
